Pokemon Weird Type Fun
About the Game
Pokémon Weird Type Fun is a Game Boy Advance Pokémon adventure built around a completely different type system. You get 18 new types, a redesigned Pokédex, updated moves and items, and around 400 Pokémon in the well-documented v1.93 release. The game keeps much of the familiar Kanto structure, but its type chart changes the way you approach battles.
🧩 Your Type Chart Knowledge Is No Longer Enough
The biggest change comes from the 18 replacement types.
The documented type set includes:
- Knight
- Dexterity
- Beast
- Nature
- Tech
- Toy
- Food
- Chimera
- Cosmic
- Void
- Magic
- Dream
- Light
- Sound
- Time
- Gem
- Chaos
- Love
The effectiveness relationships are also different from the standard Pokémon chart. A separate type chart is therefore useful when you start learning the new matchups. Community discussions show that figuring out these relationships is one of the main early hurdles.
⚔️ Battles Require a Different Approach
Your normal type-matchup habits do not work here. Before selecting an attack, check:
- Your Pokémon's current type.
- The opponent's type.
- The type of your selected move.
- The effectiveness shown by the new system.
- The physical or special nature of the attack.
The game also uses a physical/special split, so attack classification matters during team building and battle planning.
Physical types include:
- Knight
- Dexterity
- Beast
- Nature
- Tech
- Toy
- Food
- Chimera
- Cosmic
Special types include:
- Magic
- Dream
- Light
- Sound
- Time
- Gem
- Chaos
- Love
Void is treated separately in the documented v1.93 mechanics.
🗺️ Kanto Still Gives You a Familiar Route Structure
The main adventure follows the familiar Kanto progression and retains much of the established story structure.
You can progress through major locations such as:
- Viridian City
- Pewter City
- Cerulean City
- Vermilion City
- Celadon City
- Fuchsia City
- Saffron City
- Cinnabar Island
- Victory Road
- The Pokémon League
- Sevii Islands
A full gameplay video also documents progression through the Gyms, Elite Four, Champion sequence, Sevii Islands, Cerulean Cave, and additional post-game collection work.
🥚 Breeding and Evolution Have Their Own Changes
