Pokemon Fool's Gold is a Pokémon Crystal ROM hack for the Game Boy Color that transforms every Pokémon from Generation I and Generation II into a completely new version. You still travel across Johto and Kanto, but almost every encounter surprises you because each Pokémon has a different appearance, typing, movepool, and battle role. The original story remains familiar, yet the redesigned Pokédex gives every route a new reason to explore.

If you have already completed Pokémon Crystal, this hack gives you a very different journey without changing the main storyline.

Your adventure begins in New Bark Town. You collect Gym Badges, battle Team Rocket, defeat the Elite Four, and later travel across Kanto. The biggest difference comes from the Pokémon themselves. Every species has received a complete redesign, so you cannot rely on your previous knowledge when building your team. Every new route has something unexpected waiting for you.
