Sonic 2 Secret Rings Edition chronicles Sonic’s adventures in defeating the antagonist, Dr. Robotnik. The game's story focuses on Sonic's efforts to stop the antagonist’s plans for world domination, release the animals it has trapped in South Island in cybernetic shells and metal capsule prisons, and collect six magical emeralds called the Chaos Emeralds.
