TMNT Tournament Fighters: Grandmasters Edition
About the Game
TMNT Tournament Fighters: Grandmasters Edition is a 2D fighting game based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe. You choose a fighter, face an opponent, and use punches, kicks, special attacks, and defensive moves to win each match. This edition focuses on the classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) fighting experience, with changes to character selection, combat balance, and character presentation.
๐ข Choose Your Fighter
Your choice of character matters in every battle. Each fighter has their own attack animations and special moves, so you need to learn how they work before you can use them effectively.
The game includes the four familiar Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, along with other characters from their universe. Grandmasters Edition also makes Rat King and Karai playable. Both characters receive their own character profiles and ending sequences.
You can experiment with different fighters to find the attacks and movement options that suit your approach.
๐ฅ Master the One-on-One Combat
Every match focuses on a direct fight between two characters. You must manage your distance, choose the right attacks, and defend yourself when your opponent strikes.
Here are some key parts of the combat system:
- Normal attacks: Use punches and kicks to damage your opponent.
- Special moves: Perform character-specific attacks with the correct button inputs.
- Blocking: Defend against incoming attacks when you expect your opponent to strike.
- Movement and jumping: Change your position to avoid attacks or create opportunities.
- Character matchups: Learn which attacks work best against different opponents.
The game rewards practice. Learn the timing of your attacks and avoid using the same move without considering your opponent's position.
โก What Makes Grandmasters Edition Different?
Grandmasters Edition focuses on improvements to the classic SNES fighting experience. Its documented changes include additional playable characters, character presentation updates, combat adjustments, and bug fixes.
Some key features include:
- Playable Rat King: Choose a character who originally appeared as a boss.
- Playable Karai: Use another former boss in your own battles.
- Character profiles: View additional character information on the selection screen.
- Character endings: Discover the ending sequences created for Rat King and Karai.
- Combat adjustments: Explore changes to character balance and move availability.
These changes make the expanded roster the main reason to try this edition.
๐ Story Mode and Versus Battles
The original SNES Tournament Fighters game includes a single-player story mode. You select a fighter and face a sequence of opponents, with the story leading toward a confrontation with Shredder.
The game also supports versus battles for two people. This gives you a way to test your skills against another person instead of fighting computer-controlled opponents.
