About the Game
Friday Night Funkin': Animania! is a rhythm-based music game with an anime-inspired art style. You control Boyfriend. You must win musical battles to impress Girlfriend. Your first major opponent is Daddy Dearest. He has glowing red eyes and fangs. You need to hit the correct notes on your keyboard to win. The visual design changes the appearance of familiar characters. Boyfriend now has pointy elf ears. When I first loaded the title, I noticed the menus operate like an old television set. You select your songs by flipping through vinyl records.
🎶 Rhythmic Battles and Story Events
You experience elaborate story cutscenes between songs. The environment shifts during the music. When you play "DadBattle," the background moves outdoors into the rain. Daddy Dearest transforms into a massive beast. The tracks require precise timing. You choose from three difficulty levels. The Easy, Normal, and Hard charts all contain completely different vocal recordings. This vocal variation makes every difficulty level sound completely different.
⚔️ Special Action Mechanics
Some tracks require more than just hitting directional arrows. During "Winter Horrorland," you face physical threats. You must press the Spacebar to dodge attacks. You also use the Spacebar to strike back at the enemy. You must balance these combat actions while maintaining your musical rhythm. If you miss too many notes or fail to dodge, your health bar depletes quickly.

You can play through seven total tracks across different weeks. Each track offers different visual elements in the background.

You can unlock a hidden seventh song called "Manager." You sing a duet with a character named Nessie. You access this by clicking the envelope on the main menu's News board. I found that you have a one in four chance to trigger it this way. You can also use a specific cheat code. You enter codes by clicking the "Cheats" coin on the main menu.
