About the Game
Sonic: Return to the Origin is a fan-made ROM hack based on Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. The project was created by Mefiresu and was released for the Sonic Hacking Contest 2009. It presents a new adventure with original level layouts, custom graphics, and revised stage designs while using the original Sonic engine.
Instead of modifying only character sprites or gameplay physics, the hack focuses on creating a completely new platforming experience.

The game replaces the original Sonic the Hedgehog levels with custom ones.
