Super Luigi 64 – Definitive Edition
About the Game
Super Luigi 64 โ Definitive Edition is a fan-made game based on Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64. The project places Luigi in the starring role and expands upon the original Super Luigi 64 hack with additional content, refinements, and gameplay improvements. The game was created by Kaze Emanuar, a well-known figure in the Super Mario 64 gameing community.
๐ Luigi Takes Center Stage
Instead of controlling Mario, you play as Luigi throughout the adventure.
Luigi's movement differs from Mario's in several ways:
- Higher jumps
- Longer air time
- Faster movement speed
- Reduced traction on the ground
These characteristics create a different experience even in familiar situations. Precise movement often becomes more important because Luigi slides more than Mario.
๐ฐ A New Adventure Built on the Super Mario 64 Engine
Super Luigi 64 โ Definitive Edition is not a simple character swap.
The project includes:
- New levels
- Custom missions
- Original star objectives
- Modified castle areas
- Additional secrets
Many locations were created specifically for the hack rather than copied directly from Nintendo's original stages.
โญ Collect Power Stars Across Custom Worlds
Like Super Mario 64, your objective is to collect Power Stars.
Stars are earned by:
- Reaching hidden areas
- Solving stage objectives
- Defeating bosses
- Completing platforming tasks
- Discovering secrets
Each course contains multiple missions, encouraging exploration throughout the adventure.
๐จ What the Definitive Edition Changes
The Definitive Edition serves as an updated version of Super Luigi 64.
Community documentation and release notes describe improvements such as:
- Bug fixes
- Refined level design
- Additional content
- Visual adjustments
- General gameplay improvements
These changes helped make the project one of the most recognized Super Mario 64 games available.
๐ Custom Courses and New Challenges
Many stages feature layouts that do not appear in the original Super Mario 64.
During your journey, you will encounter:
- New platforming sections
- Alternative routes
- Hidden collectibles
- Unique mission objectives
- Custom environmental themes
The hack focuses heavily on exploration and movement.
