Super Luigi Bros.
About the Game
Super Luigi Bros. is a special version of Super Mario Bros. that was released as part of the NES Remix Pack for the Wii U in 2014. The game replaces Mario with Luigi and mirrors the entire adventure horizontally. Every stage is reversed from the original NES game, and Luigi uses movement physics similar to those seen in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.
Although the game is based on the classic 1985 release, the mirrored world and Luigi's unique controls create a noticeably different experience.
๐ What Makes Super Luigi Bros. Different?
- Luigi replaces Mario as the main character.
- Every stage is mirrored horizontally.
- Luigi jumps higher than Mario.
- Luigi has lower traction and slides more when stopping.
- Based on the original Super Mario Bros. adventure.
- Includes the same enemies, power-ups, and worlds found in the NES classic.
๐ A Reversed Mushroom Kingdom
One of the most recognizable features of Super Luigi Bros. is the mirrored level design.
The entire game runs from right to left instead of left to right. Familiar stages appear reversed, which changes how you approach jumps, enemy encounters, and hidden areas.
Fans of the original game often discover that memorized routes no longer work exactly as expected.
๐ข Luigi Takes Center Stage
Unlike the original Super Mario Bros., Luigi is the only playable hero.
His movement is based on the version of Luigi from Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.
Compared to Mario:
| Ability | Luigi |
|---|---|
| Jump Height | Higher |
| Traction | Lower |
| Sliding Distance | Longer |
These differences affect platforming and timing throughout the adventure.
๐ The Original Worlds Return
The game retains the same world structure found in Super Mario Bros.
You travel through:
- World 1
- World 2
- World 3
- World 4
- World 5
- World 6
- World 7
- World 8
The objective remains the same: rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser.
๐พ Familiar Enemies and Power-Ups
You will encounter many classic Mario enemies, including:
- Goombas
- Koopa Troopas
- Hammer Bros.
- Lakitu
- Bloobers
- Bowser
Power-ups also remain unchanged:
- Super Mushroom
- Fire Flower
- Starman
- 1-Up Mushroom
