About the Game
Pokémon Emerald 20 is another new Pokémon fan game which you can play online on our website. It celebrates the 20th anniversary of Pokémon Emerald with new types, modern battle ideas, and small surprises spread throughout the Hoenn region. We know people enjoy Pokémon ROM hacks on our Y9FreeGames website, so we decided to add this one for you to explore.
This version keeps the Gen III battle style without the physical/special split. You get more double battles, new type matchups, and references to Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD. The story stays close to the original Emerald, but many battles feel different because of new strategies and moves.
Pokémon Emerald 20 Game Features
- Two New Types – Aural type (sound and wave-based) and Astral type (rare cosmic-themed moves).
- Re-typed Moves – Examples include Aura Sphere and Sonic Boom as Aural type, Moonblast as Astral type.
- No Physical/Special Split – Dragon type stays physical, making certain Pokémon stronger.
- More Double Battles – Many trainer fights now use doubles for tactical depth.
- Colosseum/XD References – Special nods for fans of those GameCube titles.
- Exploration Style Changes – Some mechanics and move pools tweaked to reward curiosity.
- No Gen IV Evolutions – Pokémon like Gallade are not included to keep the Gen III theme.
