Super Mario Advance SNES – Color Restoration
About the Game
Super Mario Advance SNES โ Color Restoration is a fan-made game of Super Mario Advance for the Game Boy Advance. The patch restores the game's color palette so it more closely matches the appearance of Super Mario All-Stars on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).
The original Super Mario Advance used brighter colors to improve visibility on the unlit Game Boy Advance screen. This hack replaces those palettes with colors inspired by the SNES release while keeping the gameplay unchanged.
๐จ Restored SNES-Inspired Colors
The primary purpose of this game is visual restoration.
According to the project's documentation, the modified palettes are based on Super Mario All-Stars: Super Mario Bros. 2 rather than the brighter Game Boy Advance colors.
You will notice changes to:
- Character colors
- Backgrounds
- Terrain
- Objects
- Stage environments
The goal is to recreate the appearance of the SNES version as closely as possible.
๐ The Same Super Mario Advance Adventure
This hack does not alter the story or level design.
You still play through the complete Super Mario Advance adventure, which is based on Super Mario Bros. 2.
Your objectives remain the same:
- Complete each stage
- Defeat enemies
- Collect vegetables and items
- Battle bosses
- Rescue Princess Toadstool
The progression and gameplay mechanics are identical to the original Game Boy Advance release.
๐ Choose From Four Playable Characters
The original character selection remains available.
You can play as:
- Mario
- Luigi
- Princess Toadstool
- Toad
Each character keeps their original movement abilities from Super Mario Advance.
โญ What Makes This Hack Different?
Unlike many games that redesign levels or increase difficulty, Super Mario Advance SNES โ Color Restoration focuses entirely on visual presentation.
The hack preserves:
- Original gameplay
- Original stages
- Original enemies
- Original controls
The main change is the restored SNES-style palette throughout the game.
