Tecmo NBA Basketball

Tecmo NBA Basketball is a basketball game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was developed and published by Tecmo and released in 1992. The game features official NBA team licenses along with players licensed through the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), making it one of the few NES basketball titles with authentic teams and player names.

Unlike Tecmo's football games, Tecmo NBA Basketball focuses on full-court five-on-five basketball with season play and statistical tracking.

🏀 Official NBA Teams and Players

Tecmo NBA Basketball includes the NBA teams from the 1991–92 season.

You can select from the league's franchises and control many of the era's well-known stars. Player names, numbers, and team rosters reflect the licensed NBA and NBPA data available at the time of release.

📅 More Than Exhibition Games

The game offers several ways to play.

Available modes include:

• Exhibition Game
• Season Mode
• Playoffs
• All-Star Game
• Three-Point Shootout

Season Mode keeps track of team records and statistics as you progress toward the playoffs.

⭐ Arcade Gameplay With Strategy

Tecmo NBA Basketball uses an arcade-style presentation while still including several basketball fundamentals.

During a game, you can:

• Pass to teammates
• Attempt jump shots
• Drive toward the basket
• Steal the ball
• Block shots
• Rebound after missed attempts

Each team has different player ratings, so choosing the right lineup can make a difference throughout a season.

📊 Player Statistics

One feature that stood out on the NES was its statistical tracking.

The game records information such as:

• Points scored
• Rebounds
• Assists
• Team records
• Season standings

These records carry through Season Mode and provide more depth than a single exhibition game.
