Duck Rescue Screw Clear
About the Game
Duck Rescue: Screw Clear is a puzzle game by Yodomi where you remove colored screws from layered structures to free trapped ducks. Each screw you remove can change the position of the plates around it. You also need to manage the screws that fall into the lower groove, because matching colors can clear space while a poor sequence can fill the available area.
๐ฆ Your Goal Is Simple: Free the Ducks
The ducks are trapped inside metal or iron cage structures. Multiple screws hold the plates together.
Your main objective is to remove the screws and clear the structure until the ducks are free. You do not need to manage a character, fight enemies, or complete a traditional story campaign. The puzzle itself is the main focus.
A typical level asks you to:
- Examine the cage structure.
- Select a suitable screw.
- Drop it into the lower groove.
- Create matching screw pairs.
- Clear obstructing plates.
- Continue until the ducks are rescued.
๐ฉ Every Screw Has a Purpose
The central mechanic starts with a simple tap or click.
When you select a screw, it drops into the groove below the puzzle. Screws of the same color can clear when they become adjacent. This gives you a second task beyond simply removing the visible fasteners.
You therefore need to think about two things at the same time:
- Which screw should come out next?
- Where will that screw go after removal?
A screw may be easy to reach but still be a poor choice if it fills valuable space in the groove.
๐จ Matching Colors Keep the Groove Clear
Color matching is an important part of the puzzle system.
Two screws with the same color can disappear when they become side by side in the lower groove. Clearing them creates room for more screws.
This changes how you approach each board.
You should not simply remove screws from top to bottom. Look at the colors that are already in the groove and check which available screw can create a useful match.
A good sequence can clear several positions without wasting space.
๐ชต Watch What Happens to the Plates
The structure reacts when its supporting screws disappear.
If you remove screws from one side of a plate, the plate can remain attached and hang or swing. If the remaining supports are removed, the plate can fall away. A moving plate can also reveal a screw that was hidden behind it.
This gives each level a physical component.
Before removing an important screw, check:
- Which plate does it support?
- Will the plate remain attached?
- Could it cover another screw?
- Could it expose a useful screw?
- Will its new position block the rescue route?
This is where careful planning becomes more important than rapid clicking.
๐งฉ Hidden Screws Can Change Your Plan
Some screws are not immediately available because another plate blocks your view.
A hanging or falling plate can expose a previously hidden screw. You then need to reassess the board before making another move.
A practical approach is to wait until the moving pieces stop before choosing your next screw. The board can change after a removal, so the best move at the start of a sequence may not remain the best move afterward.
๐ฆ Keep an Eye on the Lower Groove
The lower groove acts as temporary storage for removed screws.
Its available space is important. If you keep placing screws into it without creating useful matches, the area can become crowded. Some versions describe an overflow as a game-ending situation.
This makes space management part of the puzzle.
Before selecting a screw, check:
- How much room remains?
- Which colors are already waiting?
- Can the new screw create a match?
- Will removing another screw expose something more useful?
A matching pair can be more valuable than simply removing another visible screw.
๐ง Think About Dependencies
A useful way to approach difficult stages is to work backward.
First, identify the object that is blocking the ducks. Then check which screws are holding that object in place. After that, look for the screws or plates that prevent you from reaching those fasteners.
This creates a simple chain:
Ducks โ blocking plate โ supporting screws โ earlier blocking pieces
You can then work through that chain from the currently accessible part.
This method is more reliable than selecting screws only because they are easy to reach.
