About the Game
Sonic 3: D.A. Garden Edition is a another new Sonic platform game, which you can play online on our website. This ROM hack is based on Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, but every stage layout is redesigned from start to finish. You run through familiar zones that now follow new routes and platform setups. Physics, speed control, and character movement stay close to the original release.
๐ด A New Version of Angel Island Zone
The hack is centered entirely on Angel Island Zone.
According to the project's documentation, both Act 1 and Act 2 have been rebuilt with original layouts instead of the designs found in the official game.
The redesigned zone includes:
- New level layouts
- Custom graphics
- Different object placement
- Modified enemy locations
- Updated music
This makes the opening area a completely different experience from the original Sonic 3.
๐จ Original Visual Style
D.A. Garden Edition replaces many of the original visual assets inside Angel Island Zone.
You will notice changes to:
- Foreground graphics
- Background scenery
- Decorative objects
- Environmental details
These changes give the zone its own visual identity while keeping the Genesis art style.

The hack also replaces the original Angel Island Zone music.
Instead of using the soundtrack from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the project includes custom music selected for the redesigned stage.
The remainder of the game continues to use the original Sonic 3 content after Angel Island Zone.

Although the opening stages have been redesigned, the gameplay mechanics remain faithful to Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

- Jump across platforms
- Collect rings
- Defeat Badniks
- Use the Spin Dash
- Battle Dr. Robotnik's machines
Anyone familiar with Sonic 3 can begin playing immediately without learning new controls.
