Pokemon Shadow Force
About the Game
Pokemon Shadow Force is a Pokémon Ruby ROM hack for the Game Boy Advance, created by Montebeller in 2009. It stays close to the original Hoenn adventure while including several Pokémon from Generation IV, updated graphics, and modified wild encounters. The project arrived during the early years of Pokémon ROM hacking, long before many of today's advanced hacking tools became available. Pokemon Shadow Force was designed as a light enhancement of Pokémon Ruby instead of a complete overhaul.
🌄 A Familiar Journey Across Hoenn
Pokemon Shadow Force keeps the original story from Pokémon Ruby. Your adventure includes:
- Starting in Littleroot Town
- Receiving your first Pokémon
- Collecting all eight Gym Badges
- Battling Team Magma
- Exploring Hoenn
- Defeating the Elite Four
- Becoming the Pokémon League Champion
🧬 Generation IV Pokémon Appear Early
One of the biggest attractions of this ROM hack is its early access to Pokémon from Generation IV.
- Sinnoh starter Pokémon available near the beginning of the game
- Modified wild Pokémon encounters
- Original Hoenn Pokémon remain available
Back in 2009, this feature was uncommon for Game Boy Advance Pokémon ROM hacks, which helped the game stand out among other releases from that period.
