Pokemon Leaf Green Regrown
About the Game
Pokémon Leaf Green Regrown is a Game Boy Advance role-playing game with a familiar Kanto journey and a large set of gameplay improvements. You can explore towns and routes, catch Pokémon, build a team, earn Gym Badges, defeat the Elite Four, and continue into expanded postgame content.
🌿 A Larger Kanto Journey
Your adventure still centers on Kanto. You travel through familiar routes, towns, caves, and islands as you build a team and work toward the Pokémon League. Several locations receive additional exploration options.
- Mt. Moon has an added area called Mt. Moon Square.
- Rock Smash opens an extra floor below Rock Tunnel.
- Some optional areas become accessible through Rock Smash.
- Cinnabar Island receives map improvements.
- Parts of the Sevii Islands receive expanded content.
- Additional trainers appear in areas that previously had less activity.
The overall route structure remains recognizable, so your progress still follows the familiar Kanto badge journey.
⚔️ Battles Require More Team Planning
Trainer battles receive substantial attention.
Trainer teams have better level progression, improved movesets, and more evolved Pokémon. Some opposing teams also use cross-generation evolutions. Giovanni's later team receives a Rhydon, while the Champion's documented level cap is 65.
Pokémon also receive changes to stats, abilities, moves, and encounter locations.
Examples include:
- Bug-type Cut.
- Revised Pokémon movesets.
- Higher stats for selected Pokémon.
- Improved abilities for selected Pokémon.
- Changes to battle mechanics.
- A 50% Defense increase for Hail.
- Revised type behavior involving Dark and Ghost.
- Updated trainer teams.
Later releases continue to adjust individual Pokémon and moves. The August 2026 update, for example, changed several movesets and Pokémon statistics and gave Onix a new stat profile.
🧰 Quality-of-Life Features
A large collection of smaller improvements reduces several routine tasks.
You can use features such as:
- Faster Pokémon Center healing.
- Bag sorting.
- EV and IV checking at Pokémon Centers.
- Reusable Repels.
- Repeated medicine use.
- Running indoors.
- A bike speed gear.
- Replaceable HMs.
- Improved shop inventories.
- Better TM placement.
- Move relearning options.
- Respawnable items with a shorter requirement.
- EV-reducing Berries.
- Additional out-of-battle ability effects.
The game also changes how certain progression items work. For example, Running Shoes become available early, while the Exp. Share occupies their original item slot in the documented setup.
🌴 The Sevii Islands Matter More
The Sevii Islands receive a much larger role after the main adventure.
Postgame content includes:
- More trainer battles.
- Gym Leader rematches.
- A Sevii League-style sequence.
- Additional rewards.
- Extra exploration areas.
- More Johto-related battles.
- Legendary encounters.
- A Celebi treasure hunt.
- Expanded Trainer Tower content.
The Sevii League-style content rewards you with an Aurora Ticket after the relevant battles.
🎒 HMs and Useful Items
The game changes several older progression systems.
- Cut trees and certain rocks remain cleared.
- HMs can be replaced.
- Victory Road boulders remain solved after the relevant puzzle.
- Rock Smash gains additional uses for optional areas.
- Move Tutor options receive changes.
- Some shops carry more useful items.
- Repeated medicine use reduces menu work.
- The VS Seeker receives a postgame upgrade.
These changes matter most during longer exploration sessions.
🧪 Evolution and Team Building
Team construction has more flexibility because of the expanded Pokémon pool and revised evolution systems.
The documented game includes cross-generation evolutions and makes several Pokémon more practical through revised stats, moves, abilities, and encounters. Trade-related Pokémon also receive accessibility changes through the game's evolution and progression systems.
This gives you more choices when building a six-Pokémon team.
