It’s based on the original Pokémon Emerald, but nearly everything is flipped on its head. From your very first battle, you will notice how unpredictable this version is. I tried a few runs myself—one time I started with a Dratini, the next time a fully evolved Gen 7 Pokémon. You will never know what to expect until it happens.
