Pokemon Tamagotchi
About the Game
Pokemon Tamagotchi is a virtual pet game built around raising a young Pokémon. Your main task is to care for your Pokémon and improve its different qualities through daily activities.
The game gives you three Hoenn starter choices:
- Torchic
- Treecko
- Mudkip
These three Pokémon come from the third generation of Pokémon.
Unlike the main Pokémon adventure games, your focus here is not on travelling through a region or building a battle team. Your attention stays on the Pokémon you choose and the activities that help it grow.
❤️ Your Pokémon Has Four Main Qualities
Your care is measured through four categories:
- Love
- Strength
- Intelligence
- Beauty
Your goal is to raise at least three of these four qualities to their maximum values. This gives the game a simple but different progression system from the traditional Pokémon formula.
You can decide which qualities you want to focus on as you care for your Pokémon.
🥚 Choose Your Pokémon
At the beginning, three eggs appear on screen.
Left egg: Torchic
Middle egg: Treecko
Right egg: Mudkip
You use the A Button to select an egg and the B Button to cancel your choice. After you choose, your selected Pokémon becomes the focus of the raising process.
🌱 Raising Your Pokémon
The early part of the game starts with an egg.
You pick up the egg and place it in the bed. A hatching activity then begins.
A hand appears on screen. You move it around the egg to create heart bubbles. Catching these bubbles increases the hatch bar. Once the bar reaches the end, your Pokémon hatches.
This opening section gives you a direct interaction with the Pokémon before the main care activities begin.
🎮 Daily Care Activities
After hatching, you can perform different activities with your Pokémon.
The documented activities include:
- Feeding
- Playing
- Training
- Using toys
- Going outside
- Using different items
- Caring for your Pokémon's development
A feather is also placed in the room, and additional play items can become available as you continue.
🎹 Toys, Items and Pokéblocks
Your Pokémon has several ways to improve its qualities.
Documented activities include the use of:
- Toys
- A feather
- A piano
- Pokéblocks
These activities are connected to the Pokémon's development categories.
Pokéblocks are especially notable because they connect the game to the Hoenn-era Pokémon setting.
