Pokémon Emerald QOL is a quality-of-life focused Pokémon adventure that keeps the core Hoenn experience while reducing several repetitive tasks. You still use the familiar Generation 3 battle system, explore the Hoenn region, train your Pokémon, collect items, and progress through the main adventure.

🌿 A Smoother Hoenn Adventure

Pokémon Emerald QOL keeps the familiar structure of the Hoenn journey. Your progress still centers on exploration, Pokémon battles, training, and the major events found throughout the adventure.

The project does not aim to replace the Generation 3 battle system with newer battle mechanics. Its documented goal is to preserve the Gen 3 battle meta while reducing unnecessary repetition.

You can therefore concentrate more on building your team and progressing through Hoenn instead of repeatedly dealing with small gameplay restrictions.

⚔️ Battles Stay Close to Generation 3

The battle system remains based on the Generation 3 ruleset. The documented changes focus more on convenience and trainer behavior than on replacing the underlying battle mechanics.

Some notable battle changes include:

• Your party receives a full heal before and after every battle.
• Bag items cannot be used during trainer battles.
• Trainer opponents also cannot use Bag items during battles.
• Trainer AI receives attempts at stronger AI packages.
• Under-levelled trainer Pokémon can receive a level increase up to the level of your highest-level Pokémon.
• Some trainer Pokémon receive appropriate evolutions.
• The low-HP warning sound has been removed.

These changes can reduce the amount of preparation and recovery required between battles.

🌱 Berry Growing Takes Less Time

Berry cultivation receives a major reduction in waiting time.

The documented changes include:

• Berry growth takes approximately one-tenth of the original time.
• You only need to water Berries once.
• Berries do not die simply because you stop checking them.

This makes Berry management much less demanding during a normal playthrough.

Pokémon Emerald QOL also changes several default settings to reduce setup time.

The documented defaults are:

• Sound: Stereo
• Battle Style: Set

You can therefore begin with settings that require less adjustment before starting your adventure.
