About the Game
Streets of Rage 2: Sonic Wars is a fan-made ROM hack of Streets of Rage 2 for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. Created by Candra Software, the project replaces the original heroes with popular characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The classic side-scrolling combat remains intact, while new character sprites and Sonic-themed visuals give the adventure a completely different appearance.
After reviewing gameplay videos and community feedback, the most noticeable strength is the quality of the sprite work. Sonic and his friends fit naturally into the Streets of Rage engine while preserving the original gameplay.
