Sonic 1: Painto Edition 2

Sonic 1: Painto Edition 2 is a fan-made game based on Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. The project was created by Painto and builds upon an earlier version of the hack. It keeps the original Sonic gameplay while introducing custom stage designs, visual changes, and other modifications created by the author.

This is an unofficial project and is not a release from Sega.

🎨 A Different Take on Sonic's First Adventure

Painto Edition 2 follows the familiar objective from the original Sonic the Hedgehog. You guide Sonic through a series of side-scrolling stages while battling Dr. Robotnik and rescuing the animals trapped inside Badniks.

The hack changes several parts of the original game, including:

• Custom level layouts
• Updated graphics
• Revised stage presentation
• Various gameplay adjustments

🌴 Redesigned Zones

Instead of replaying the original stages exactly as they appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog, you explore modified versions with new layouts.

During your adventure, you will encounter:

• Alternate routes
• Different platform arrangements
• Revised enemy placement
• Hidden paths

These changes encourage exploration, even if you already know the original game.

⚡ Classic Sonic Gameplay Remains

Although the stages have been modified, the core mechanics remain faithful to Sonic the Hedgehog.

You still:

• Collect rings
• Jump on enemies
• Use Sonic's rolling attack
• Search for hidden areas
• Defeat Dr. Robotnik at the end of each zone

Anyone familiar with the original Genesis game can quickly adapt to the controls.

⭐ Why Fans Try Painto Edition 2

Many Sonic games focus on a single feature, such as a new playable character or color palette.

Painto Edition 2 offers a broader set of modifications, including:

• Custom stage layouts
• New visual presentation
• Original hack content
• Classic Sonic platforming

It provides another way to experience Sonic the Hedgehog while preserving its familiar gameplay style.
