Sonic 1: The Special Stages

Sonic 1: The Special Stages is a fan-made ROM hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive. Created by SonicVaan, this version replaces all of the regular zones with the bonus Special Stages. We know people love playing Sonic games on our website. That’s why we decided to share this unique version where you spend all your time inside the rotating maze levels.

Unlike the main game, there are no Green Hill or Marble Zone levels. Every stage is designed around the original Special Stage system, where the screen rotates and you try to reach the Chaos Emerald without hitting a “GOAL” block. The entire gameplay is centered on collecting Emeralds.

How to Play

• Arrow Keys: Move Sonic through the rotating stage.
• Z / X / C: Jump and spin.
• Avoid “GOAL” blocks or you will be thrown out of the stage.
• Collect rings to stay safe and reach the Emerald at the center.
