Have you ever dreamed of being a superhero, or maybe use your powers in real life? Then try out our fun online version of Anime Battle 4 and save the day. Also be sure to check out our other online anime games like Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure, Jojo Heritage for the Future and Chainsaw Dance.

What are the Anime Games?

Anime is a Japanese cartoon style that has been dubbed “cartoon-like art.” It began as early as the 1920s and gained popularity in Japan during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. For fans of Japanese culture who claim to have “never seen a game”, anime games can be an eye opener about the interconnectedness of gaming and animation. Gamers will be amazed at the sheer density of culture that exists in the world of cartoons: from political allegories like Hetalia to intimate character studies like Soul Eater and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, anime has an expansive history with games.

Anime games allow players to explore the world of anime, and play out the adventures they’ve seen in films and TV shows. The genre emerged in Japan as early as the 1970s, with simple 2D sprites used to squeeze every last drop of dramatic effect from Japanese TV shows. However, as technology developed, so did the graphics and gameplay. By the mid-1990s, developers were already creating fully 3D worlds that were twice the size of earlier titles and included sprite animations for all characters. Today’s games don’t just draw inspiration from famous anime series and movies; they incorporate elements from Marvel Comics too!

Anime games are simply games based on the series, or games that take inspiration from anime. The style of graphics, character design and themes of these games varies widely. Some might resemble massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs), while others can be considered desktop games or puzzle games.

Anime games are a perfect way of giving the audience an idea of what is going to happen in an anime, while still retaining its gaming nature. Most available games come with their own world and characters, which can be interacted with in the same way you would with other RPGs such as Skyrim or Final Fantasy XII. Being able to run through these fantasy worlds like you’re actually at home in front of the telly, taking control over your favourite characters and battling against evil forces, might just leave you feeling as though you were indeed living out your dreams!

Popular Anime Fighting Games

You might be playing an anime fighting game, or you’re just looking for something fun to pick up. Either way we have caught you up on some of the best anime fighting games out there:

  • Jump Force: This is a fighting game taking place in the world of Shōnen Jump. 2D characters from your favorite manga come to life in amazing 3d environments, as you battle other Jump Force players around the globe to see who is the best manga fighter in the world. Experience the deepest single-player story mode in a fighting game with over 40 characters revealed so far, along with an extensive story mode that lets you create your own squad of manga fighters to earn fame across Jump World.
  • The King Of Fighters 13: This is a fighting game released by SNK in 2010. It marks the transition from 2D to 3D environments, as well as a shift to more realistic graphics. The game features more than 70 playable characters, each with their own unique fighting style and set of special moves. You can also customize your avatar with over 500 different pieces of clothing, dozens of types of accessories and even more unique shoes. This is a new KOF game that takes everything we love about the series, and molds it into a top-quality game experience in the latest graphics engine. With developers including Team Ninja (Street Fighter) and SNK Playmore (Samurai Shodown series), this title will be your next favorite fighting title every time you pick it up.
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ: This is an action game based on the TV series Dragon Ball produced by Toei Animation, featuring characters and scenes from the Dragon Ball universe. The player can fight against other players using customizable characters and story mode in multiplayer mode. Its gameplay is similar to that of the other fighting games in the same series such as Fist of the North Star, Injustice 2 and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, with 3 vs 3 battles among players who use various characters based on their own favorite characters from Dragon Ball.
  • Guilty Gear Strive: Capcom’s 2D fighting game Guilty Gear is back on Android and it’s hit the ground running with a new installment, “Guilty Gear Strive.” The game is an anime fighting game that provides incredible gameplay, great anime artwork and some really cool features. It’s not just simply earth shattering with its animations, but it can also offer you a beautiful gameplay with RPG elements which will make you feel free while playing. The characters are unique in their own way and they have impressive movesets as well.
  • Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: This is an action-adventure video game in the Naruto series, developed and published by CyberConnect2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. The game was released worldwide in mid-2017. Join the journey of Naruto and others to rebuild the Hokage Village after a devastating attack.
  • DNF Duel: This is a fast-paced battle game with simplified inputs. Players control a single character and can switch between characters during fights with their active abilities while recovering HP by collecting G. Player interaction is limited to delivering attacks, defending against attacks from monsters, and initiating Conversions (which allows you to transform into other characters). There are eight main characters available for players to choose from at the beginning of each stage; additional characters can be unlocked via “Dungeon Coins” (tokens used for purchasing items in the shop) or through daily login bonuses.
  • Persona 4 Arena: This is an arcade style fighting game that was released in 2012. It combines elements of brawlers (such as Street Fighter) with the social aspect of a role-playing game (such as Final Fantasy). Players choose from a group of characters from the Persona series, who all have special abilities and fight against other challengers in two-on-two battles. The game features a rich story line as well as gameplay elements such as social interaction and character development. In Persona 4 Arena, you’re “Phantom Thief” and your goal is to take the role of a member of a group of friends who must stop the appearance of an evil spirit that has been unleashed on the world. The game features a high-quality graphics and sounds, with a huge variety of different characters to pick from. It also takes advantage of 3D technology, allowing characters to move around in an interesting way.
  • Dead Or Alive 6: This is resulted in Dead or Alive 6: Core Fighters being released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in March 2019. Then, in August 2019, Dead or Alive 6 Ultimate came out for current generation consoles (Xbox One and PC) and the Nintendo Switch. The game is available on PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store, but not on Steam. This series has been one of the most successful fighting games around for over two decades, and it’s a tight little package. Still, the fast-paced combat keeps players on their toes, and the cast seems to keep growing.
