Pokémon Light Platinum DS Demo 2

Pokémon Light Platinum DS Demo 2 is a Nintendo DS Pokémon ROM hack based on Pokémon HeartGold and inspired by the original Pokémon Light Platinum GBA hack. The current release is Version 0.2.2, and it contains Chapter 1 of the project. The developers describe this chapter as a complete narrative section rather than a simple technical showcase.

🌍 A Different Take on the Light Platinum World

The original Pokémon Light Platinum came from WesleyFG and used Pokémon Ruby as its base. The DS project uses Pokémon HeartGold instead. That change matters. You get the Nintendo DS engine, DS-style graphics and a different technical foundation.

🏆 Five Gyms Are Available

Demo 2 gives you a sizeable amount of progression.

Chapter 1 reaches the fifth Gym. Community discussion around the English release also confirms that five Badges are available, with some content continuing into the postgame section.

The current chapter therefore offers much more than a short opening sequence.

🧭 Zhery Has Been Reworked

The DS version uses the Zhery concept from Light Platinum, but the developers changed the region for this project. You will find:

• Reworked maps
• New locations
• Changed regional lore
• New events
• Custom overworld mechanics
• A different story structure

The result is not simply the GBA map rendered with DS graphics.

⚔️ Your Pokémon Team Has a Much Larger Pool

The project covers Pokémon from Generations I through VII.

The official documentation lists 807 Pokémon in the game. Chapter 1 provides access to almost 600 obtainable Pokémon, so the two figures should not be treated as the same thing.

This gives you a large selection when building your team.

You can also encounter Pokémon with newer abilities and moves that were not part of the original HeartGold battle system.

🧚 Fairy Type Is Part of the Battle System

The Fairy type is included in the DS project.

Pokémon that received Fairy typing in the official series also receive the appropriate typing here. This changes some familiar type matchups from standard HeartGold.

🌐 Online Features Are a Major Technical Feature

The project has custom online functionality. Its documented systems include:

Demo 2 received several useful updates in Version 0.2.1. The changelog lists:

• D-Pad: Move your character.
• A: Confirm selections, talk to characters and interact with objects.
